DRC: the day's less than two hours old and I've gotten heaps of useless things done already:
- Decided to start a DRC thread using ISO date syntax for a change
- Finally uploaded an avatar to my board account
- Upped my current Steam Community rating to "3 - Shooting blanks"
In other news:
- The three teeth the dentist drilled into yesterday are still acting up whenever I drink stuff. I think it's because of the temperature.
- I've had a sore throat since a couple of days ago and Friday is choir day. I may have to skip it, missing out on lots of fun and slagging.
QotD: if you could undiscover/uninvent any breakthrough discovery/invention, which one would you choose and why?

Nice avatar! Having a sore throat sure doesn't stop you from doing genius vocal work.
QotD: I don't like the look and feel of plastic. I wish I could take back the discovery of it, and everything that's made of plastic now was still made out of wood and glass and metal, nice and solid. I know that makes some technology I'd still like to have problematic, but... maybe it could be discovered but be much more expensive to make, and only used for circuit boards inside of our brass and wood framed computers, and brushed aluminum cell phones.

It's not yet the 9th over where I live, but good QotD! Can I answer with something as abstract as "The exploitation of discrepancies in international law?" Or will you insist on one particular concrete invention?
So. I don't know, really. Pretty much every invention I can think of has a light side and a dark side, and I can't really think of anything influential that has done more bad than good in the long run. I guess I could pick something stupid and inconsequential, like the Chapstick-style butter applicator, but what's the point of that?

Television commercials. Put the product placement in the script and on the set to get your thirty pieces of silver o' my studios. Why television commercials? They bug me.

Today I'm going to the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman audiotorium. Gonna be seeing Vince Gill and Loretta Lynn among others. I'm riiiiidiculously excited. Nashville is fantastic and wonderful, and cowboys are awesome. Hopefully I'll be setting up the music room in the new house on Saturday. Yay for lovely music rooms.
QOTD: I would un-invent the Ugg boot/mini skirt combination. So many of my friends go out dressed like that in Boston in the winter and then complain that it's cold. No freaking duh, your lower limbs are completely exposed. They're fine individually, but together they make no sense.

I'll take pretty much anything. You could uninvent globalization instead, by the way, if that's not too extreme.Generic wrote:Can I answer with something as abstract as "The exploitation of discrepancies in international law?"
I'd like to uninvent, among other things, the Rorschach test.

QOTD: The Internet, so I don't have to look at Jast's new avatar.
Jast, if you look at your new avatar just right, you look like a paraplegic in a wheel chair breaking through the tape at the finish line at the special Olympics. Of course, if that IS the case, then congratulations.

Yeah, and everybody knows that multiple inheritance is extremely tricky to get right.fluffy wrote:Life would be so much simpler if we were all had linear inheritance from a single parent.

Wow, I think that's the first time I've seen Fluffy make a typo. A mathematical comic idea must have popped in your head at that very moment in time and caused your brain to hiccup.fluffy wrote:qotd: Sexual reproduction.
